About North Wales Watersports
North Wales Watersports Ltd is an organisation, set up under the
auspices of the British Marine Federation, to support all the members
of the watersports industry - commercial, public and voluntary - in
the Objective 1 areas of North Wales.
The cornerstone of our activity will be the creation of this exciting
new portal website called www.watersportwales.co.uk in which all members
of the North Wales Watersports industry will be able to actively participate.
It is designed to be the No.1 resource for every type of North Wales
watersport user and will include comprehensive databases with free
listings and links for members.
The North Wales Watersports organisation is currently working alongside
the Councils of Conwy, Gwynedd, Ynys Mon and Denbighshire, the Welsh
Development Agency, the Wales Tourist Board and the F/E Colleges of
Llandrillo, Meirion Dwyfor and Menai to develop infrastructure, marketing
and training needs.
Areas for development & discussion include:
- Provision of visitor moorings
- Development of additional slipways
- Provision of secure car and trailer parking
- The establishment of secure storage compounds for ‘Park & Ride’ services
- Zoning of industrial units dedicated to marine use to cater for new and expanding businesses.
- The development of a full range of maritime educational training
including apprenticeships, conversion training, management training
and work experience schemes plus all the usual RYA courses
- The development of a North Wales ‘Virtual Marine College’.
- Marketing of
the area aggressively by providing a North Wales Watersports brochure,
